Rappelling and Diving."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00c2\u00a0Since almost all of Central America is one large volcano, we&#8217;ve been able to take full advantage of volcanic cauldera&#8217;s. \u00c2\u00a0The first crater we hit up was the aptly named El Valle in western Panama and the second was a crater lake in El Salvador where we went on two dives with Oceanica Scuba via DeCameron resorts.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/009-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"009\" width=\"754\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">El Valle from the top.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">In El Valle we first tried to seek out a canyoning company to show us around, but when that didn&#8217;t pan out we went out on our own.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/043.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/043-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"043\" width=\"266\" height=\"354\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">So you can gauge our route down to the waterfall to the pools below.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/040.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/040-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"040\" width=\"266\" height=\"354\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Nels lovin&#8217; his first time rappelling.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The dive\u00c2\u00a0 in the crater lake was also pretty fascinating.\u00c2\u00a0 First of all know one knows its exact depth and I&#8217;m guessing it could be because at one of our dive spots there is a massive black abyss in which I can imagine no one cares to venture.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s that creepy.\u00c2\u00a0 Our second dive spot, as the dive master mentioned, contained the only section of the lake where there were unexplainable perfectly spherical balls of clay (possibly from an underwater explosion) of varying sizes.\u00c2\u00a0 When we reached that particular location on the floor, there was also an unexplainable feeding frenzy for said clay balls.\u00c2\u00a0 Know one knows why, but all 8 of us on the dive frantically brushed up the dust of the lake bed in a mad scramble to stuff our BCDs full of them.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/197.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/197-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"197\" width=\"354\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Lake Llopango<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/223.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/223-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"223\" width=\"266\" height=\"354\" \/><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Creed (Craig) aka the Mother Hen of Scuba Diving (self-proclaimed).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/224.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theworldbyroad.com\/expedition\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/224-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"224\" width=\"354\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">The Scuba Steves.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Since almost all of Central America is one large volcano, we&#8217;ve been able to take full advantage of volcanic cauldera&#8217;s.
