Although the mileage indicator on our homepage gives you the general idea of how many miles we have put under our belts since we left Denver in February 2007, we get a lot of questions about how far we have driven in each country, the price of fuel and how much we have actually spent to keep the Toyotas running. Like any other “professionals,” we have actually been keeping detailed records about miles driven, fuel consumed and the average price of gasoline. The road conditions in various countries affect our fuel economy. For example we average about 2-3 miles less per gallon off-road than we do on sealed roads. Additionally, the availability of certain grades of fuel affect how much it costs to drive through a particular country. For the most part we have used unleaded fuel with an octane rating of about 92 in the Tundra and the Sequoia, although in some areas we have traveled through, 80 is the highest grade fuel available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
